Hitachi group provides VRM / telematics solution that delivers the safety and convenience services to drivers and car owners by using vehicle information.
Various VRM services become available by sending the car information collected and accumulated from various in-vehicle sensors through data communication, etc. to the center to analyze it. The VRM services are expected to be developed and expanded in the future, so we will support them with our VRM solution by fully exploiting the "Hitachi strength" of safety diagnosis technology, car unit technology, and information and communication technology.

The telematics service provides the safety service for relieving the anxieties about driving, such as monitoring the status of vehicle in real time by connecting the car with the service center via data communication, delivering proper supports in case of car accident or malfunction detection.

Since the telematics service connects a vehicle with the service center via communication, a firewall (FW) with a strong security function between vehicle control system and information system is indispensable. The combination of the VRM function, which monitors and accumulates vehicle status and the FW, the Safety&Security function, which detects vehicle malfunction and reports and informs the center about it, and the communication function fulfills the core functions of the telematics service.
Also, compared with vehicle control system, information system for automotive has a shorter product life cycle and is becoming closer to consumer electronics devices. Furthermore, various functions are necessary to implement due to the difference of regions and periods (generations) used worldwide. In order to absorb these differences flexibly and fulfill diversity, we are promoting their design and development based on the IVCS (In Vehicle Computing System) concept. We will provide the telematics solution by fully exploiting the "Hitachi strength" on information and communication technology, vehicle control technology and in-vehicle unit technology.

| Basic specifications | Dimensions | 115 x 60 x 30 |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | 160 g | |
| Power consumption | 1W (typ.) | |
| Communication specification | Data transfer rate | 500kbit/s |
| Number of channels | CAN x 2 | |

Combination with the information collection system allows you to collect the vehicle information flexibly according to the collection conditions and the purposes. When the collection condition from the information collection system is set as a mission of the VRM terminal, the terminal side agent works according to the mission to record the event (error, etc.) occurrences conforming to the desired collection condition.
