These are common questions about TOKICO shock absorber
Oil type: Oil + Air : Normal performance
Gas type: Oil + Gas : Better performance
Gas type contains the nitrogen gas.
Gas type : It's better than Oil type. You can feel good even if you drive in bad roads.
Non Gas type (Oil type) : You can feel good when you drive well in paved roads.
It is contained nitrogen gas.
They recommend the Gas type when you drive on the bad road because of their good performance. An Oil type can work enough on the paved road, but a road condition changes and it has the limit of its ability, so they recommend the Gas type.
Cavitation means the phenomenon that bubbles appear and disappear in the oil during working the shock absorber. Cavitation makes the performance low, but gas type holds it.
Followings are the main cautions. 1.Do not hurt a rod. 2.Tighten bolts and nuts properly.
Do not falsify the spring, otherwise there is a bad influence in the shock absorbers.
As for TOKICO, their quality is OK, because the level of managing quality is same in the factories all over the world.
The quality of an oil seal is different. Imitations' one is low quality, but it looks same as TOKICO in the point of the surface.
Sand sticks between a rod and an oil seal, and then the shock absorber works, the sand comes into it.
We recommend that if you got nosedives and unpredictable shaking on your car, you should replace them. Also if you found some damage on the shock absorbers like dent and bending part and dripping oil, be sure to change them.
As for TOKICO, when the shock absorbers are operated in -40 degrees, the movement is not smooth because the inner oil is sticky very much. However after you start driving, the oil temperature is getting high and getting usual, so you should drive slowly 300 meters to 500 meters at first.
If the spring is worn out or its shape is changed, you should replace them in the same time.
We recommend to set the pair of shock absorbers because when oil leakage occurs in one side, the other is near to the same situation.
In the normal usage, the oil or gas leakage occurs. In the installing, the case that the oil or gas leakage in short term occurs because of harming the rod.
TOKICO has high technical skill, which has replyed to the demand of car makers. On the basis of it, TOKICO has invented high-tech products such as semi-active shock absorbers, self-levelizers, air suspensions.
No, but it is better to stroke 4-5 times before replace new shock so that air and oil will become familiar.
TOKICO has designed and manufactured shocks for over half a century. In fact, TOKICO is original developer of twin-tube low-pressure gas shock technology. We manufacture standard hydraulic, as well as mono-tube and twin-tube low -pressure gas shocks.
